Tilapia Fish Sticks

The following recipe will walk you step by step through making fried Tilapia fish sticks with a spiced cornmeal breading. This dish is great served with spicy oven roasted potatoes, and Italian styled stewed tomatoes. It could also be served with coleslaw and homemade macaroni and cheese.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of Tilapia fillets cut into halves
  • freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • cornmeal
  • oil to fry it in.

 

Directions

  1. Preheat the oil to 375 degrees.
  2. Then mix the spices in a bowl
  3. rinse the fillets with cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.
  4. Next dip the fillet halves into the lemon juice and sprinkle with the spice mixture.
  5. After that cover the fillets in the cornmeal and fry the fish in small batches for 3 minutes a batch.
  6. Allow the fillets to drain on a cooling rack.
  7. Take one of the fillets and cut it into a strip to check if it's done. If not finish in a 350 degree oven.
